In 2025, I redesigned the online presence of Berlin-based photographer Heidi Scherm’s photo studio in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. The project encompassed both a design and structural redesign of her website. The goal was to present the photographer’s services more clearly and concisely, improve visibility, and offer potential clients an easy way to contact her and book appointments.
The core of the web design project was a restructuring of Heidi Scherm’s services. The aim was to provide visitors with a quick and clear overview of the photographer’s offerings and portfolio, encouraging them to get in touch. To achieve this, the various topics were systematically grouped. The result is a clear and intuitive structure with short paths throughout the entire website.
As part of the redesign, the navigation structure was also simplified, and the number of different page types was reduced. This allows users to find the information they are looking for more quickly and easily. The UX concept was developed in close collaboration with the client and implemented in several stages.
The result is an elegant, minimalist website that is uncluttered and streamlined, placing a clear focus on Heidi Scherm’s large-format portrait photographs. Creating a highly personal impression that conveys trust and fosters approachability was also crucial. The web design is dominated by ample white space and clean typography. The photographs are visually prominent and are not obscured by other graphic elements. The text is deliberately structured into easily readable blocks, ensuring a smooth reading experience and encouraging browsing. Relevant keywords are integrated into the content to provide an immediate understanding of the photographer’s services.
The navigation is classic, understated, and intuitive. Separate subpages for various topics create a clear, flat structure, with each page addressing a specific need. Easily accessible pages such as the contact page and blog facilitate quick communication and offer informative background information.
