Web design and web development

Web design and web development – what are the differences between the two? And what should you consider when commissioning one?

« article overview

When you have a new website created, two different departments come into play:

Web design

Design involves page structure, typography, shapes, colors, and image selection. If your company already has a branding, the design of your website will be based on it. If none has been defined yet, the design of your new website can be more flexible, but should, if necessary, be aligned with existing media. As an experienced branding agency, Sebastian Klammer Grafikdesign Berlin also offers the development of a new corporate design.

Another component of web design is user experience design (UX). Its goal is to provide users with quick, easy navigation that effortlessly leads them to the information they are looking for. User experience design is intended to provide website visitors with a pleasant experience and guide them directly to the desired result.

Web Development

Web development is the second important area for a new website. It involves the programming of your website—a process that is more technical than design-based.

If you search online for a web designer, you’ll often find providers who specialize in either website design or programming. The latter usually “only” implement a pre-designed design or ready-made themes. Although many of these providers aren’t particularly strong in design, it may be sufficient to choose one of them, as they usually have excellent programming skills.

Design and programming from a single source

At Sebastian Klammer Graphic Design Berlin, you receive website design and programming from a single source. This offers you, as a client, the advantage of learning during the planning phase which features and ideas can be implemented successfully. Since I don’t work with ready-made themes or website builders, my clients can be confident that the websites they receive are truly unique.
