The heart of the Palatinate—so say the people of Kaiserslautern—beats high atop the Betzenberg. And it has done so for over 100 years. This is where 1. FC Kaiserslautern plays its home matches. Founded in 1900, the football club is a founding member of the Bundesliga, where it has held a permanent place ever since. This storied club is supported by countless fans who proudly display their passion for the sport through their attire. They can find such merchandise—among other items—at the 1. FC Kaiserslautern FanShop, which underwent a complete redesign in 2017. The contract for the web design was awarded to Sebastian Klammer Grafikdesign Berlin, the studio that also provided the new web design and handled the complete technical development for the club’s official website. The migration of this extensive website presented a major challenge; in addition to the new visual design, the site required a complete technical migration from TYPO3 to WordPress—a process that included restructuring the content, transferring thousands of posts from the news archive, and integrating dynamic statistics, live scores, and league tables. The project was brought to fruition with the support of Cornelia Agel from SevenMinds and Christian Borsch, who were responsible for the complex integration of external data sources. The 1. FC Kaiserslautern FanShop is powered by WooCommerce, an e-commerce solution seamlessly integrated into the newly established WordPress environment.
